Christine Coley and Julie Kendall are our practice nurses and they manage the treatment rooms at the surgery.
Healthcare Assistants help the nurses with their duties and monitor blood pressures, perform ECGs, urine tests and blood tests.
As well as their routine consultations, the nurses can specifically help you with:
- Advice and injections for foreign travel
- Blood pressure measurements
- Ear syringing
- Dressings and removal of sutures
- Dietary and healthy living advice
- Minor illnesses and trauma
The practice nurses assist the doctors in monitoring patients with stable ongoing illnesses like diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, epilepsy, thyroid disease, gout and heart disease.
They assist with contraception planning and smears, leg ulcers, minor surgery and also carry out health screening and home visits to the housebound.
All nurse clinics are run by appointment made by reception.
A phlebotomist visits the surgery twice weekly to help with blood tests. Mondays and Thursdays 8.30am to 9.30am are for fasting tests and 9.30am to 11.45am are for non-fasting tests. The blood tests are by appointment only. Please remember to bring along your test form.
Samples are collected at noon each day for transport to the hospital laboratory. Specimen samples may be left at reception to be sent the same day or alternatively they can be delivered direct to Rowley Regis or Sandwell Hospital Pathology laboratories.
